Taylor River

After a couple of successful trips to the Lake Fork, my friends and I decided to change it up and drive over to the Taylor River.  We got up by 3:30 a.m. so we could be at the river before 7 a.m to stake a claim to the best spots.

Mitchell started off an amazing day of fishing with a 20-inch rainbow at 7 a.m., and by the time we left late that afternoon, we had landed 58 fish between the four of us--with four of those fish measuring at least 20 inches.

First fish of the day--not a bad start

Big horn sheep were coming down the cliffs (trust me, they are in this picture)

Can you spot the bighorn sheep in them middle of this frame?

Nice rainbow

This rainbow had very few spots compared to the others we caught

50% brown trout, 50% snake, 50% eel

The pot of gold at the end of the rainbow is at Wal-Mart?

Pulling Big Fish From Revenge Run

Kevin, Mitchell, Peter, and I got some time on our favorite stretch of water near Lake City: Revenge Run.  And the fishing did not disappoint!

Two fish on!

There's snow on the mountain ahead (in the middle of August, no less); what started as a beautiful summer day turned shockingly cold!

Hopefully he will be even bigger next time

Fishing with Dad

My dad and I got a chance to do some fishing together on the Lake Fork, and we caught some good ones.

Found a fly box from Tailwaters on the bank--eventually tracked down the fisherman who lost it.

At dusk the fish got really active and started taking stimulators off the top.  This 20-inch brown was one of several fish feeding as night fell.

Same fish, just in better focus.

Big Fish, Little Creek

After a day chasing big fish and dealing with muddy waters, we headed to a small creek with tons of fish.  Most of the fish in the creek are on the smaller side, but there are some hogs in there--a couple of which we got to the net.

Really fat wild rainbow

Bow made a break for it!

And was set free to get even bigger

Another chunky rainbow.  This guy gave me quite a fight (see the video below)!
