Hiking Handies in the Snow

With new snow blanketing the mountains, my sister and I jumped in the jeep and headed toward our favorite fourteener, Handies Peak.  We didn't make the summit, but the combination of fall colors, new snow, and bluebird skies was absolutely breathtaking.

First Snow of the Season

After the Lake City Wine Festival, we got our first substantial snow of the season.  The mountains take on a new beauty when they are draped in white.

Lake City Wine Festival

My family descends upon Lake City each September for the Lake City Wine Festival--a day of concerts, wine, and Colorado fall colors.  I had missed all the prior years (usually because of Longhorn football games), but I was waiting for everyone to arrive this year.

I wasn't trusted with a wine glass because I looked "too homeless."

A beautiful day for music and wine
